Pink Icing Teapot
by Iawen Li
Elegant with a pinch of naughty cute is the first impression of Ia Wen’s work.
Ia-wen loves to incorporate nature's vitalities and organic forms of beauty into her work - from exquisite flower petals, camellia flower, mint, moss, to mushrooms. They even transformed and integrated into the brewing experience, adding more dramatic and natural adorns to the tea ceremony. Imaging using mushroom shape teawares, with some wet moss or a bit of mint color touching pitchers or cups, and even lifting a petal lid, like plucking flowers in the tea forest wonderland.
Her delicate curves also assimilate the surrounding mountains and sea near her studio in a quiet Taiwanese town Yilan.
At first glance, the pink series resembles the cherry blossom types of pink. But it feels more like pink camellias - flowering in the snowy and cold winter days for a world that seeks delight; its adaptability, resilience, and beauty. And camellia is also the plant of tea, the ultimate passion behind Li's all creativities.
